Our client loved neutral colors with pops of color, clean lines, and warmer wood tones of Mid-century modern design. Quality, craftsmanship, and comfort were priorities. She’d lived and traveled throughout Africa, Europe, and Asia and collected several heirloom pieces that inspired our design— a harmonious blend of MCM and Asian design styles.
Our vision combined the mid-century modern style, MCM, and Asian design.
Our design philosophy was to view the entire home on a spectrum that spanned from MCM to Contemporary to Asian, with each room positioned at a point on the spectrum
To create a unique and harmonious blend that balanced mid-century design’s clean lines and functionality with the rich textures, colors, and symbolism often associated with Asian aesthetics, we leaned into rich, warmer wood tones, luxurious leathers, artisan pottery, and original art.
Asian influences are strongest in the foyer, featuring an antique Chinese cabinet, and the primary bedroom, featuring a Chinese bench over 300 years old.
Mid-century modern influences are strongest in the office, where generations of family heirlooms (many from 1940-1970) are displayed.
Both styles are more muted in the living and dining areas, which acts as a transitionary hub for the other rooms.
