Mid-Century Modern / Asian Office
Our design combined mid-century geometric patterns and colors with neutral soft whites and grays with pops of Asian colors and patterns in the art and accessories. The artwork’s orange, gold, and yellow provide interest and cohesion to the design.
MCM patterns are about sharp visual contrast. The accent pillows on the sofa are the best example of this in our design, with geometric two-tone gray, bronze, and cream pillows contrasting sharply with the warm brown mohair pillow and the neutral sofa. The office’s aniline-dyed leather armchair creates the contrast between its slate blue color and the ebony-colored wood arms and base. The living room rug’s geometric pattern and sharply contrasting cream and dark grey colors suggest MCM.
The main living areas lean more toward Asian Zen design than traditional design, emphasizing a sense of harmony, balance, tranquility, and simplicity. Think of the patterns found in nature, such as the Anticato marble-topped coffee table with chiseled edges, the granite countertops, the detail in the decorative plant pots, and the woven puff and accent rug in the foyer.
Circle motifs are Asian design elements and are associated with zen and enlightenment.
The white cotton duvet and gray quilted coverlet against the warm tones of the wood and metal platform bed in the guest room suggest elegance and minimalism simultaneously.
